Easy as 1, 2, 3! Installation System Operation Trouble Shooting Test Log

It is recommended that a licensed electrician or pump technician perform any work or inspection on this system.

PUMP DOES NOT START

1. CHECK POWER TO THE CONTROL BOX

  1. Turn controller switch ON. Power indicator light may be burned out, do not assume that power is off.
  2. Check main circuit breaker
  3. Inside box check for power at STARTER with circuit tester
    For 110 volt systems, terminals: power @ #L1, neutral @ #L2.
    For 220 volt systems, terminals: power @ #L1 & #L2 , neutral @ "n".
  4. If there is power continue to step 2.
FIX: If no power: Replace main breaker. Make sure power wires are connected tightly to proper contacts @ motor starter. (See Installation Instructions-Electrical Connections)

2. CHECK PRESSURE SWITCH

  1. Remove cover from pressure switch. Using a jumper wire, touch the 2 wired terminals together. This should complete the circuit and activate the pump.
FIX: If pump starts pressure switch must be adjusted or replaced. See PRESSURE SWITCH ADJUSTMENT. If pump does not start continue to step 3.

3. CHECK POWER THROUGH MOTOR STARTER

  1. Push down by-pass switch on starter
FIX: If pump starts starter coil should be replaced
If pump does not start continue to step 4.

4. CHECK POWER FROM STARTER TO PUMP MOTOR

  1. Engage by-pass switch on starter.
  2. Remove pump cover plate, check for power with a circuit tester.
    For 220-volt systems, terminals: power @ L1 & L2, neutral @ gnd.
FIX: If no power make sure power wires are connected tightly to proper contacts @ motor starter and pump. If there is power pump capacitors or pump must be replaced.

PUMP RUNS WITH NO WATER PRESSURE

1. Make sure tank is filled.

2. There is an air lock at pump impeller. Turn off system; bleed air from pump housing at air relief nut.

3. In areas where AQUATIC GROWTH is present a water conditioner MUST BE used & maintained. Contact local water authority for type of conditioner to use.

PRESSURE SWITCH ADJUSTMENT

PUMP RUNS CONTINUOUSLY

1. Pressure switch adjustment has been tampered with or is defective. Pressure switch is pre-adjusted, tested and sealed at the factory.

  1. TO ADJUST SWITCH:
    - open system valve and close test valve
    - remove pressure switch cover
    - turn pressure nut unit clockwise until pump stops
    - see pressure switch data sheet for details
    - open test valve, this will activate pump
    - close test valve, pressure will build and pump will stop
    - repeat opening and closing test valve
    - Adjust switch until system resets.

FIX: If adjustment does not work switch must be replaced.

PUMP KEEPS RECYCLING

1. System is leaking or loosing pressure causing the pump to start. When pressure is restored pump turns off.

FIX:

  1. Make sure test valve is closed tight.
  2. Check check valve disk for debris or damage
  3. Check sprinkler piping for leaks

ALARM DOES NOT SOUND

STANDARD CONTROLLER TEST CIRCUIT: 110 VOLT ONLY

  1. Check that wires are connected to terminals 2 & 7 (HOT)
  2. Alarm device is not 110 volt.

OUTSIDE DEVICES CONNECTED TO FLOW SWITCH

  1. Check that wires are connected to N.O.or N.C.terminals to comply with device specifications.

PANEL LIGHTS DO NOT LIGHT ON STANDARD CONTROLLER (230 VOLT MODEL)

  1. Common wire must be connected to terminal strip 'N'
  2. Three wire supply plus ground wire must be installed.
