1. Determine the demand of the sprinkler system in gallons and psi at the discharge of the pump by the use of hydraulic calculations. (example: 30 gpm @ 40 psi required)
2. Tank size -- multiply the gallons required by the duration in minutes required. (NFPA 13D 10 minutes, NFPA 13R 30 minutes) Tanks may have to be manifolded together to obtain longer duration. (example: 30 gpm x 10 minutes = 300 gallon tank)
3. Pump size -- select pump from psi/gallon chart. (example: 40 psi @ 30 gpm required = 1.5 hp pump)
4. Determine what electrical power is available. 115 or 230 volt single phase motors are in stock.
